Who owns the past? This has become the hottest question in museum and cultural studies around the globe. Should Britain send the Parthenon sculptures back to Greece? Should Benin bronzes be returned to Nigeria? Will that spark a wholesale transfer of museum antiquities? Are there laws, standards or conventions that might govern these questions?

Thing Thing is an experimental design collective based in Detroit with longstanding ties to the Big Island. Their work focuses on site-specific exhibitions surrounding waste, making, creativity and place. In 2019 they were invited for a summer residency with Temple Children, which culminated in a sculptural installation featured at EHCC.

Kealoha Pisciotta is a Native Hawaiian Traditional Knowledge Keeper. She is the President of Mauna Kea Anaina Hou and the founder of Kai Palaoa, a marine protection organization that is working to protect marine mammals and all ocean life, and to restore the abundance of the sea.
